Shanti Grandhi is a MFA Candidate in the Painting and Drawing Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was born in Arlington Heights, IL and lived and worked in New York City before joining SAIC.

Her paintings are a meditation on narratives, how history gets written and how the language of paint makes meaning. Through mark making and color, she explores her relationship with culture, memory, time and space and stitches together various experiences—lived, imagined, inherited and appropriated.

Shanti also holds degrees from University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and Harvard Business School.
