Alanna Huck-Scarry
Alanna Huck-Scarry (b. 1996) is a visual artist who splits her time between northern Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. She is currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Fiber and Materials Studies department. Huck-Scarry seeks to explore the natural world by drawing attention to the beauty of the sometimes-forgotten and often dismissed details of her environment.
Her work is both a material investigation – whether it be with natural dyes, handmade paper, found objects, or knit forms – and a personal endeavor to understand the ephemeral world around her.
When not exhibiting in shows across the Midwest in places like Illinois (Oak Park Art League, Oak Park, IL), Michigan (Good Hart Artist Residency, Good Hart, MI and Krasl Art Center, St. Joseph, MI), and Missouri (Art Saint Louis, Saint Louis, MO), she enjoys teaching classes to Chicago-area art students.
