Braxton Hay


Master of Fine Arts in Writing

Braxton Hay is a multi-media writer, director, cinematographer, and editor from Michigan, with a focus on horror, neo-noir, and anything gothic. He graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in Fiction Filmmaking from Michigan State University in 2023. He will graduate with an MFA in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in May 2025. He is particularly interested in exploring hauntology, cultural memory, and vaporwave aesthetics. His short horror film “Jennifer Rots” (2021) screened at the Central Michigan International Film Festival and the Desmond District Demons Film Festival, where it won the “Audience Choice” award. He is graduating having secured literary representation for his thesis novel, Haunt Me, Haunt Me, Do It Again (2025).
