Ricardo De Lima’s transdisciplinary artistic practice critically examines the manifestation of power structures within quotidian experiences through a decolonial lens. His methodology encompasses material interventions across multiple media, including sculptural installations, sound compositions, video works, and computational systems. Through these modalities, De Lima deconstructs found objects to reveal their latent ideological implications and structural vulnerabilities.
His work has garnered recognition through exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, where he received the James and Audrey Foster Prize, the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, and the Havana Biennial. De Lima’s curatorial practice includes co-founding Pico Picante, a decade-long investigation of transnational bass music, and Spectacle Boston, dedicated to avant-garde time-based media.
Currently pursuing an MFA in Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, De Lima’s research has been supported through residencies at MASS MoCA and the Vermont Studio Center.
