Shanti Grandhi


Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Painting and Drawing

Shanti Grandhi a second year MFA Candidate in the Painting and Drawing Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was born in Arlington Heights, IL and lived in New York City before joining SAIC.

She believes that painting is a non-verbal, embodied activity. Her work is a dialogue with her lived experience and Indian miniature paintings, a fascination with color and an exploration of the tension between figuration and abstraction. Her work has been shown in solo and group including at Art City, Chicago; South Asian Institute, Chicago; Howling Pages, Chicago and SAIC Galleries, Chicago.

Shanti also holds art history and business degrees from University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and Harvard Business School.
