Katrina Hurley is a Chicago based cartoonist and sound artist pursuing a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While her comics focus mainly on the morality of human life, her sound art, and more recently her films, focus on her absent and lost memories. Comics aren’t her only form of story telling. Katrina utilizes sound as a narrative tool to provoke emotion in the listener without using words. She embraces distortion to manipulate field recordings and found audio in order to evoke an uneasiness that comes with forgetting precious memories.
