Rishti Sumedha is an industrial designer based in Chicago, working at the intersection of object, interaction, and experience. Her work explores how light, material, and form can shape emotional connection and awareness, creating objects that invite a slower, more attentive way of sensing the world. Through product design, installation, and interactive experimentation, she explores how objects can shape atmosphere and influence the way people feel and respond to a space.
Her practice is rooted in hands-on making and iterative experimentation. She works across prototyping, 3D printing, wood, textiles, electronics, and interactive lighting to test how form, material, and behavior come together in experience. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accessory Design from NIFT Bengaluru and is currently pursuing a Master of Design in Designed Objects at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her background includes market-facing watch design at a leading watchmaker in India, studio-based design work, and research-driven projects across objects, interiors, and interactive systems. Her current thesis focuses on how light and subtle interaction can change the feeling of a space, creating objects that encourage reflection, awareness, and emotional connection.
