erψn temp3st is a Canadian dancer and new media/sound artist of settler descent. Their explorations cross multiple disciplines, aiming to redefine body-based practices in terms of technological, sonic, and sculptural intervention. erψn’s work has been presented across so-called Canada and internationally. They are an MFA candidate and full scholarship recipient in Art and Technology/Sound Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago 2026 graduating class.
I am committed to material research that reveals the interconnectedness of bodies and space. My work attends to a material intimacy that favours relationality, empathy, listening, and feeling within a posthuman and queer framework. Through an interdisciplinary approach I make performances at the intersection of dance, sound, video, and object installation as a way to defamiliarize matter and open space for strange new formations and unusual sensory experiences. As a queer person I am committed to plurality, the in-between, and the unknown.
My work communicates meaning through affect and mobilizes the semiotics of objects to challenge hierarchical structures rooted in colonial and humanist systems of thought. My current research is in dialogue with philosophers Karen Barad, Jane Bennett, and Eve K. Sedgwick, whose works engage the vibrancy and world-shaping capacities of matter as grounding forces within queer, erotic, and embodied practices.
