Grace Kim

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design)

Grace Kim is a graphic designer and artist, currently pursuing an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Her work investigates how generative AI reshapes creative practice, shifting it from physical production toward processes of perception, interpretation, and mental image construction. Through artist books and print-based experiments, she examines how authorship, perception, and meaning are reconfigured across technological systems.

Her recent projects explore these shifts through the history of typography, philosophical models of originality, and prompt-based image generation. By engaging layered materials, speculative narratives, and text-driven structures, her practice reframes creativity not as a fixed act of making, but as a process of selection, interpretation, and mental construction.
