Micah Shaffer
Micah Shaffer is an interdisciplinary artist and designer working at the intersection of ecological inquiry, material studies, and sensory experience. They investigate how we as humans might cultivate attentiveness, care, and responsibility towards other-than-humans through weaving, artist books, and alternative methodologies of thinking/making. Micah works in wood, fibers, ceramics, and collage. With a BA in Art History from the College of Charleston, their design work is deeply informed by art historical research and material analysis. Their work has been exhibited and presented in both artistic and academic contexts, such as the Medieval Matters Conference (2024) and Joya: Arte and Ecología AiR (2025), and their painting Foggy Blue is part of the Arts in Healing permanent collection at the Medical University of South Carolina.
