Simone Körner’s art wears out the horizons of colonized cultural forms within capitalism, such as the self, technology, agriculture, nature, trade, and love. Her spatial constellations (arrangements) of everyday, collected objects and performances house “anarchives” (remnants) in the form of sculpture, assemblage, photography, and sound. Körner establishes other modes of relationship, other gestures between objects and us, beyond the inherited commodity form and ownership. S/he transforms things into spaces of possibility for an anticolonial cult, through ornamentality (Fumi Okiji) and queerness.
Simone Körner (*1992) is based between Elsendorf, Berlin and Chicago. S/he is pursuing the Low-Residency MFA at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2026. Also, Körner is working and learning in the bakery of Arnd Erbel, researching in the monumentality of Arnd’s understanding and practice of sourdough and wild fermentation processes as a cultural form.
Körner is founder and host of the pop-up event “Bistro Broken Hearts” and co-founder of the “Pisssister Association”.
