Emma Bergman


Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts Degree

Emma Bergman is an interdisciplinary artist and organizer. They make films, installations, prompts, and performances, with a focus on relationship-based practices. Their current projects use the structure of an institution, the Department of Eschatology, to investigate alternative family structures, group dynamics, and potential apocalypses.

Emma was a Y10 Community Member at NEW INC, an incubator for art and technology affiliated with the New Museum. Rocko, a short film they made in collaboration with James Jones, premiered at DOC NYC in 2023. Emma’s artist book and deck of question cards were acquired by the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection in 2024. Call Your Mom, the performance collective they co-founded in 2014, worked together for ten years, showing work at Gylleboverket (Gärnäs, Sweden), Centro NAVE (Santiago, Chile), Cucalorus Film Festival (Wilmington, NC), the Sondheim Art Prize Semifinalist Exhibition (Baltimore, MD), and more. They have led workshops at the School of Making Thinking, the University of Michigan, and the University of Indiana.
