Luyu Chen (b. 1998, China) is a contemporary artist exploring the idea of Off-frame. Chen graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, BFA in Photography in 2022 and is currently pursuing her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Rather than seeking visual pleasure within the content of the pixels themselves, her practice emphasizes the authority she grants to the materials she uses, shaping a unique aesthetic. By exploring the expanded media, she aims to reclaim the anti-grand narrative through her own agency.
