Lauren Stichweh

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Fiber and Material Studies

Lauren Stichweh (b. 2000, Atlanta, GA) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work examines the entanglements of intimacy, labor, and power through material and embodied gestures. Working across fiber, sculpture, and performance, she plays with the tensions that reach between desire and failed expectations. Navigating the threshold of exposure and restraint, her practice traces the endurance of maintaining these in-between states. Within these shifting dynamics, Stichweh’s practice explores the generative potential of failure, the allure of obsession, and the slow, sensual labor of being in relation.

Stichweh holds a BFA from the University of Georgia and is currently an MFA candidate in Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Stichweh’s work has been exhibited in galleries such as Arts + Athletics in Athens, GA, and in Chicago at Heaven Gallery and GAG Chicago, among others.
