Arden Henderson is an artist based in Chicago whose work engages the vernacular of the everyday. Drawing from quiet moments and materials gathered from daily life, such as dirt, trash, and collected imagery, these elements become both subject and surface within the paintings. Arden approaches painting as a form of visual poetry, using color, texture, and gesture to hold fleeting experiences and emotional traces. They have lived and worked professionally in both New York City and Chicago, and have exhibited in galleries and alternative spaces throughout both cities.

Each painting becomes a kind of simple poem about a place, a thought, a passing moment. I use materials and imagery gathered from daily life: dirt from a walk, trash from a day out, collected images, fragments that feel elevated through attention and reflection. These materials and images become both subject and surface, forming a record of time spent noticing. For example, in Train Painting I’m painting a moment, to hold a small pleasure and share it. The texture of the everyday, color tied to emotion, and the intimacy of looking are fundamental to my experience of the world.
