Guanqiao Yu

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Performance

Guanqiao is an artist working across performance and moving image. His practice explores the tensions between body, desire, and power, focusing on how individual subjectivity is shaped, suppressed, and negotiated within social structures and intimate relationships.

Through repetition, endurance-based actions, and mediated voice, his work constructs situations where personal expression is interrupted, distorted, or overwritten. Drawing from queer experience and contemporary socio-political contexts, he examines the fragility of agency and the persistence of desire under pressure.

His works often take the form of video installations and performative gestures, emphasizing the body as both a site of resistance and vulnerability.
