Miaoyi Shu is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago and New York, originally from Chengdu, China. Her practice, which intentionally avoids being medium-specific, is deeply informed by her diverse background in fashion design and broadcast directing. Shu’s work focuses on observing the ongoing human process of “becoming” within contemporary social structures.

She achieves this by dissolving the boundary between the physical and the virtual, seamlessly integrating responsive kinetics and audio-visuals. Her immersive environments translate acute observations of systemic structures into visceral experiences, designed to awaken deep emotional resonance in the audience.
