Soren Ngoc Hsu

Soren Ngoc Hsu (b. 2004) is a Chinese-Vietnamese-American filmmaker and animator currently based in Chicago, IL. Within their work, they prioritize experimentation and personality. Soren pulls a variety of items from their surroundings– including tea, leaves, fur, and handmade paper– to texturize each frame, giving unconventional life to different media. When they aren’t scribbling, scratching, splicing, and stippling at trailing strips of celluloid, Soren can often be found helping friends and colleagues on independent film projects.
